A slightly subjective assessment of today’s weather on a scale from 0 to 10.

5/10: Summer turns to simmer and storms, which can be a skirt for some.

  • Today: Partly to mostly cloudy, risk of pm storms. Heights: 86 to 90.
  • Tonight: Chance of a Storm in the early evening, foggy. Low: 72 to 77.
  • Tomorrow: Partly sunny, very humid, risk of pm storms. Height: 88 to 94.

Heat happens, especially in July. Temperatures and humidity will return to unpleasant levels over the next few days, but we will at least get some breaks from the heat in the form of clouds, showers and thunderstorms. Similar to the June pattern, our warmer periods are not long-lasting, so the relatively good news is that cooler conditions and lower humidity arrive in time for the weekend.

Today (Tuesday): Increasing clouds, heat and humidity with the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms, some of which can be heavy or heavy (showers and heavy rain showers). The altitude should reach the mid-80s to almost 90 in the early afternoon before clouds and storms appear on the site. Moderate to high humidity is expected as dew points rise to mid to the upper 60s to even near 70. The wind from the south is mainly 5 to 10 mph, except more windy around storms. Confidence: Medium

Tonight: Several showers and thunderstorms are possible during the early evening, with partly to mostly cloudy skies overnight. It is still moderately foggy, with low temperatures up to the 70s, with light breezes blowing from the south at 5 to 10 mph (except higher around storms). Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow (Wednesday): Partly sunny with a chance of increasing the heat of the week, as the highs reach from 90 to maybe even mid-90s with very wet conditions (dew points into the lower to maybe even mid-70s). The heat index should reach the upper 90s to maybe the low 100s. Showers and thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and evening to try to break up the heat a bit. Otherwise we have only light winds from the west around 5 mph. Confidence: Medium

Tomorrow night: Partly to mostly cloudy as the fog maintains. Scattered showers and thunderstorms also continue, with lows from nearly 70 to the mid-70s. Confidence: Medium

Thursday should provide less intense heat thanks to a more cloudy start to the day, and even some morning rain is possible if a waning thunderstorm complex comes here from the Midwest. Several showers and storms are also possible in the afternoon with partly to mostly cloudy skies, high temperatures in the lower to mid 80s and moderate to high humidity. Thursday night continues partly to mostly cloudy with more chances for showers and storms as minimum temperatures range from the lower to mid 70s. Confidence: Medium

Friday offers more partly to mostly cloudy skies with scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms, while a cold front is finally trying to penetrate. We should see highs in the mid 80’s with moderate humidity again, but some spots may swell closer to 90. Friday night the chance of showers and storms continues under partly cloudy skies and lows from around 70 to mid mid 70s. Confidence: Medium

The latest forecast trends move the front far enough south to a relatively drier one weekend, with lower humidity, partly to mostly sunny skies, and only 80s for high temperatures. If the front were to subside a bit, we could still see some clouds and storm chances Saturdayespecially in the southern areas. Sunday should be the best day, with lower humidity and better chance of more sunshine. Saturday night also looks more comfortable, with lows in the 60s. Confidence: Low-Medium
