It’s almost a month ago Chris Rock was turned off Will Smith at this year’s Oscars. Many people have weighed in on the situation, now Chris Rock’s mother shares her thoughts on the whole incident.
During an interview with South Carolina’s WISTV, Chris’ mother Rose Rock shared her thoughts on the slap and revealed that the incident not only affected Chris. She said,
“When Will hit Chris, he hit us all, but he really hit me.” When asked why she says that, Mrs. Rose went on to say, “When you hurt my child, you hurt me.”
She was also asked if she got the chance to talk to Will, what she would say.
“I have no idea what I was going to say other than what in the world were you thinking? You made a slap in the face, but so many things could have happened from it. Chris could have gone back and fallen. You could really have been taken “you did not think so. You reacted to your wife giving you the side eye and you went and made her day because she was overwhelmed with laughter when it happened,” she said.
Ms. Rose, who was not present at this year’s show, says Chris was excited to present Quest Love with his award, but the moment was taken away due to the slap.
She added: “No one even heard his speech. No one was able to just be in the moment because everyone was sitting there thinking, ‘what just happened?’
The new season of “Red Table Talk” began earlier this week, and at the start of the new episode, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that the Smith family is still recovering from the Oscar incident. She said“Given all that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family has focused on deep healing. Some of the discoveries surrounding our healing will be shared at the table when time calls.”
Earlier this month, the academy announced that Will Smith is prohibited from attending the Oscars and any Academy events for the next 10 years.
