A security report published last month, which says racism was a “likely” factor in the police search for a black 15-year-old girl at her school, has resulted in protests and discussions across London.
The report found that the search of the girl, known as Child Q, without an appropriate adult present, was unjustified.
Child Q is suing Met Police and the school in Hackney over the incident, and the school principal has withdrawn for health reasons.
Meanwhile, groups like Social Justice Charity Voyage have been working to empower young black people with open discussions.
Rhoda, a girl who joins the group, said: “Our voices need to be heard for a new change to actually take place.”
