says Graeme Souness Chelsea’s strikers do not match the quality they have in other divisions after the Blues suffered a shock defeat to Everton.

Chelsea’s inconsistent form continued at Goodison Park on Sunday as Frank Lampard’s Toffees secured a 1-0 victory to boost their hopes of survival.

Everton were five points from safety in the match, but closed the gap to Leeds United in 17th place and Burnley in 16th place to just two points thanks to Richarlison’s winner in the second half.

Chelsea’s top three of Kai Havertz, Timo Werner and Mason Mount struggled to create many openings against a lively Everton team, and Souness believes Tuchel’s front line is his biggest problem.

Romelu Lukaku, who has set a club record, has endured a miserable season at Stamford Bridge, while Havertz and Werner have flattered a bit over cheating since moving to west London, with Chelsea 17 points behind Premier League leaders Manchester City by four games back.

“Chelsea are a team that does not really have strikers they should have for the qualities of other divisions of the team,” Souness told Sky Sports.

‘For the money they have spent, they should have much more than they have, for me. [Timo] Werner, four goals.

‘They have been confronted here by an Everton team who have been very aggressive, they have not matched that aggression.’

Tuchel admitted that Chelsea’s form was a “concern” following the Goodison defeat and urged his team to return as they appear to be finishing the season at a high level.

While the Blues were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid last month, they could still lift some silverware before the end of the season, with Tuchel’s team set to face Liverpool in the FA Cup final on 14 May.

“It’s disappointing because over the last four games we have not had enough points for what we want and that’s worrying,” Tuchel said.

– We have a clean sheet over the last four games and it is far too easy to score against us. We can not stop making individual mistakes.

‘We struggle to have repeated top performances. Today was an OK achievement, but OK is not enough. We closed in the first minute of the second half and it gets harder.

‘The way we gave this goal away was completely unnecessary. If we keep giving goals away, it will end up in the results we’ve had recently.

‘We were not at the highest level. We trusted the team. Maybe we could have changed more. It’s something I personally want to reflect on. ‘
