Charlize Theron shares a behind-the-scenes look at her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut

Two immediate observations come to mind when looking at Clea’s costume from all angles. First, her makeup is incredibly striking. She wears a light purple eye shadow above and below the eyes that points out in a confident look and just a little angular. Second, her outfit looks almost armor-like, more akin to the intricate breast pieces that the Eternal wears than anything else in Doctor Strange’s wardrobe. The overall effect is that Clea looks like a warrior like a magician, strong and battle-ready.

However, she has a costume element that screams the future Sorceress Supreme: her cloak. In a shot that reveals the costume from behind, we see Clea’s royal purple cloak attached to stiff, shell-like shoulder pieces with gold circular buckles. The coat is actually several shades of purple, and is decorated with a pattern of thin, white circles of all sizes. While MCU continues to focus on what Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) calls “The Big Three” – androids, aliens and wizards – Clea’s costume integrates pieces of design that feel like a culmination of all the franchise’s sci-fi and fantasy elements. date.

Personally, I’m not into the more glorious costume era that Marvel seems to be entering, but this behind-the-scenes footage clearly shows the level of detail that went into Clea’s appearance. We do not yet know where or when Theron will make her Marvel debut in the film, but we do know when she does, she will be dressed for the job.

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” is in theaters now.
