Arsenal defender Cedric Soares has no interest in moving away from the club despite reported interest in a summer transfer from Newcastle United and Porto.

The 30-year-old has enjoyed his most consistent run on the Gunners first team this season since joining the club from Southampton in 2020.

This is largely thanks to the injury to right-back Takehiro Tomiyasu, but Cedric has made the best of it and made 13 starts in the league in this campaign, more than he managed in a season and a half before.

The Portuguese will remain under contract at the Emirates until 2024, but Newcastle and Porto are believed to be interested in testing his availability over the summer.

Depending on the size of any bid coming in at right-back, Arsenal could be persuaded to let him go, but Cedric himself has no interest in leaving north London.

The Portuguese publication Correio da Manha reports that Cedric is very happy where he is, reports of bids are just speculation and he does not want to move away from Arsenal.

Cedric is likely to be out of the squad again with Tomiyasu returning from an injury, with Arsenal legend Tony Adams saying he’s happy to see the Japanese star back and the Portuguese ‘scares the life out’ of him.

“Tomi came back right at the end, which is great because I’m still scared of Cedric,” Adams said after the Premier League meeting with Manchester United. ‘He’s scaring the life out of me, so it’s good to see Tomi back in action.

‘If we can get him back and be solid defensively, I think we have a fourth place.’
