A government adviser on social mobility, who was criticized for commenting on A-level elections, has admitted that her language was clumsy but that she had explained things as she saw them.
Katharine Birbalsingh appeared before MPs on Wednesday, saying that physics was not an issue girls “tend to feel like” as it included “hard math”.
In Thursday’s Politics Live, she clarified that it was a single comment based on her own school, and she had also given 20 minutes on other topics across the country that did not get the same publicity.
She added: “I’m pretty sincere and I have not planned what to say.”
