President Joe Biden will announce a new military aid package for Ukraine, which is expected to resemble the $ 800 million in aid that the United States released a week ago.
The package comes as Russia begins an offensive to conquer the Donbas region, which many analysts believe will be a crucial phase in the country’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
After failing to occupy Kyiv in a blitzkrieg early in the war, Russia cut back on its intention and announced that it was only seeking to conquer the eastern regions of the country. In recent weeks, Russia has amassed more than 50,000 troops in or near occupied regions of eastern Ukraine.
To ward off the Russian attack, Ukrainian troops will need a massive supply of heavy weapons, which the United States provides in aid packages such as the one announced today.
