A missing teenager who appeared dead on a street in San Francisco months ago may have been sexually assaulted around the time she died of an overdose of drugs, the forensic pathologist recently revealed.

Victorria Moran-Hidalgo, a 16-year-old who grew up inside and outside the care system, was found unresponsive in the 600-block on Minna Street in the early morning hours of February 18th.

Her death in San Francisco’s Tenderloin district, notorious for homelessness and violent drug abuse, was initially investigated as a suspected overdose, but under suspicious circumstances.

A recently released autopsy report confirmed that her death was caused by several drugs in her system, including fentanyl, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

But the manner of the teenager’s death was classified as unresolved.

A witness called police on Feb. 18 to report that they saw the teenager “during a potential sexual assault.” As the caller got closer, the man who was with Moran-Hidalgo fled, according to a police report. The witness administered Narcan, an emergency medication used to quickly reverse an opioid overdose, but the teenager did not regain consciousness and was pronounced dead.

The forensic doctor noted how her body was found partially undressed and publicly visible. Her legs and chest had some minor bruises, but she was now showing signs of traumatic injury.

An autopsy found two copper-colored metallic projectile fragments in her calf, indicating that she had suffered a previous gunshot wound. Inoculations showed no evidence of semen.

Moran-Hidalgo was reported missing in Stanislaus County by a social worker in September 2021. She was reported missing again in January from Kern County, where she ran away from a group home.

The disturbing discovery of her half-naked body on a street at the time led to public outcry over San Francisco’s violent drug problem. The police union criticized Liberal San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin for what it categorized as same-day release policies for an army of drug dealers and downplaying law enforcement to hold dealers and gang leaders accountable.
