Özil has had his best goal-scoring season in Arsenal colors this season, scoring nine goals in 28 games, but the German playmaker has been criticized for lack of consistency as the Gunners are sixth in the Premier League table.

Arsenal’s dismal record against their top-four rivals has been a major reason why they fell behind in the title race, and Özil continues to be accused of disappearing in the team’s most important matches.

The 28-year-old World Cup winner has been the butt of rival fans’ jokes for most of the season, and a supporter took it to the next level on Sunday afternoon.

‘Can you just donate to the fund?’ asked a member of the YouTube channel CheekySport Mertesacker as he held out a bucket outside the Emirates.

Unfortunately for Mertesacker, there was a picture of his teammate Özil on the other side of the bucket along with the words ‘MISSING PERSON’ in capital letters.

Looks like Mertesacker has something to explain …
