The Royal Commission for Al-Ula Governorate and the Electricity Transmission Company, which is affiliated with the Saudi Electricity Company, signed an agreement to supply electricity in Al-Ula, with loads of 1,000 MVA, at a total cost of 3.5 billion riyals (approx. .933 million dollars).
The agreement includes the implementation of a central transmission station of voltage (380 kilovolts) and its connection to the network via a double antenna line with a length of 73 kilometers, in addition to the construction of three other substations of voltage (132 kilovolts).
The development of the transmission and the implementation of the energy network aims to increase the reliability of the electricity services provided to residents and visitors of Al-Ula and to integrate renewable energy sources to achieve sustainability goals.
According to the agreement, the existing overhead lines and underground cables will be continued to reduce their visual impact in accordance with the authority’s commitment to protect the natural and cultural environment of the province and development policies in archaeological and environmentally sensitive areas.

Amr Al-Madani, Executive Director of the Authority, for his part, said that the signing of the agreement falls within the objectives of making Al-Ula a unique global destination for life, tourism and business through the establishment and development of more quality infrastructure to meet the needs of residents and visitors.
Al-Madani added that the agreement will help strengthen the authorities’ strategic objectives by providing efficient, sustainable and reliable energy services delivered in a manner that preserves the natural and human heritage of AlUla.
Engineer Walid Al-Saadi, managing director of the Electricity Transmission Company, for his part indicated that the agreement is subject to guidance, supervision and follow-up by the Ministry of Energy and the Water and Electricity Authority, as part of the effort. of the Saudi Electricity Company and its subsidiaries; To provide electricity service with high reliability, which contributes to achieving the goals of “Rigets Vision 2030”.
It is noteworthy that the Royal Commission for AlUla Governorate aims, in line with the comprehensive development strategy, to improve services and facilities and increase energy efficiency in line with the development vision of the governorate to achieve the goals of raising the quality of life in an integrated manner.
