Who is Alexa?

AleXa was born under the name Alexandra Christine Schneiderman. She first performed in 2019 after gaining huge popularity in 2016 from Soompi’s audition program called ‘Rising Legends’. AleXa is also known for her appearance on Mnet’s ‘Produce 48’ in 2018, where her first digital single was her drop from 2019, ‘Bomb’.

After competing on both seasons of the reality show ‘Rising Legends’, AleXa signed with Zanybros’ ZB Label in the year 2018. She continued to train there for about 3 years. During her training, that was when she ventured out to compete on Mnet’s ‘Produce 48’.

AleXa posted a teaser of the competition song, she will perform at NBC’s ‘American Song Contest’ in the US on her social media, called ‘Wunderland’.

‘American Song Contest’ with AleX’s ‘Wonderland’ will be available to watch on NBC and all affiliate channels on March 21, 2022.

According to AleXa’s latest TikTok video posted on her Instagram, we can expect references from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ in the lyrics of the song. You will see her say, “Get rid of your head” in the TikTok clip, a direct reference to the Queen’s iconic line from both the book and the animated film.

In addition, it also seems that the song speaks of a failed relationship story, based on the line, “Stop thinking I love ya, wonder if we had a chance, maybe back in Wonderland”.

Her Instagram has posted excerpts showing off her tattoos, and also started the “Show me your tattoo” challenge on TikTok in mid-January. Her view was quite unique as it presents real-life stories and tattoos separate from the many existing challenges for K-pop artists in the industry.

In the video, AleXa shows two tattoos. The first tattoo with letters reads, “And rain will make the flowers grow”, tattooed on the back of her left shoulder. The tattoo is a loose translation of the quote, “There are no rainbows without rain”, thereby adding meaning to her favorite phrase, “Good things can come from bad things”.

AleXa’s second tattoo, a heart-patterned one, expresses her deep love and affection for her mother. She got it in a purple hue representing her mother’s birthstone.

Her challenge video has accumulated over 15,000 likes and unleashed massive attention on social media just hours after she took to Instagram to post the video.

What’s more, she also released her single of the same name on January 6, 2022. ‘Tattoo’ includes a hard-hitting bass combined with a romantic progression with chords. The magic of this song is how it leaves a gentle but powerful feeling that somehow manages to mirror the many contrasting feelings of heartache.

Regarding her music video, ZB Label CEO Kim Junhong said, “‘TATTOO’ expresses the confusion instead of AleXa as an AI where the human sense of love has been engraved inside AleXa as a tattoo”. He added: “Compared to previous singles, the song gives listeners an emotional stimulation with its delicate story and lyrics, which adds even more to the AleXa AI universe. We decided to release the English version first to preserve the original meaning of ‘TATOO’, ‘and leave the Korean version open for the future’.

In addition to the above famous artists, we will also see AleXa compete with Keyone Starr, Ryan Charles, Jake O ‘, UG skywalkin, Kelsey Lamb, Alisabeth Von Presley and Yam Haus.

‘American Song Contest’ premieres March 21, 2022 at. 20.00 ET on NBC.
