‘Amber Heard is a Sociopathic Showpony’
One of Johnny Depp’s closest friends believes that Amber Heard is “a sociopathic show pony” who is intent on destroying the star.
Gina Deuters – who is the wife of Depp’s longtime business partner and assistant Stephen Deuters – had a front row seat to the actor’s stormy 15-month marriage to Heard, claiming he is the real victim in the midst of their ongoing legal battle.
In her only interview since she was forced to resign from the witness stand, Deuters exclusively told Page Six that she believes Heard thrives on drama.
“There was one thing Amber said at the wedding. She leaned in a little to me and said, ‘Are you and Stephen ever fighting?’ I replied, ‘We quarrel sometimes,’ and she said, ‘No, Gina, do you really want to fight?’ And it was a little nerve-wracking. [I thought]’Do you enjoy it?’ ”Recalled Deuters, who has known Depp for almost 20 years.
“I think there’s a part of Amber there [believes] struggle is passion. That means there are sparks, fireworks [in the relationship]. [Amber] is someone who is always used to getting what she wants. She is quite justified, and I think she made great demands in their divorce. “
In response to Depp’s allegations during the trial, Deuters claimed: “When [Amber] was denied these claims, I feel like she was like, ‘I’m not getting what I want, so I want to ruin you’. “
Deuters told us that her husband first called Heard “a sociopathic showpony” after inadvertently becoming a mediator in Depp and Heard’s marriage in its last difficult days.
“My husband called her a sociopathic showpony, and he certainly does not regret it,” she explained. “Stephen was ultimately literally the broker … no one else wanted to deal with Amber, and Stephen wanted to be the only person she could talk to.”
Depp, 58, is currently in court and suing Heard, 36, for a 2018 Washington Post op-ed she wrote in which she called herself a victim of sexual violence. Although the actress did not mention Depp by name in the play, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star claims that it tarnished his reputation and career.
Deuters recently took a stand in Depp’s defense, but did not get the chance to give her full evidence before the jury in Virginia when her testimony was deleted from the journal.
She was ordered to leave court on April 14 after Heard’s journalist friend Eve Barlow intervened and Deuters admitted to the judge that she had seen clips from the trial online.
In a speech to Page Six, Deuters described Depp’s time with Heard as “less of a relationship and more of an Amber invasion.”
“Immediately, she started moving her friends into his properties,” she said. “It was quite shocking how she eventually isolated him from his family and friends … it certainly felt like we had lost him.”
Deuters told us she initially thought Heard was “cold” and confused about her behavior.
“When they first got together, I would describe her as quite a ‘Stepford Wife’. She baked cookies and took off his shoes after work. It was all pretty weird,” she recalled.
“Knowing that Amber was this confident feminist, it was strange that she behaved quite submissively, like a nice little housewife role. [But] that was all in the beginning – it would change pretty quickly. “
Back in 2015, Deuters and her husband helped arrange both weddings between Depp and Heard. The two tied the knot at Depp’s late mother Betty Sue’s home in Los Angeles, followed by a ceremony on his private island in the Bahamas in 2015.
“[Amber was] absolutely controlling… the whole thing of getting married was rushed, ”Deuters claimed. “It just happened so fast, to the point where Johnny’s family was honestly not notified and some of them could not get there in time.”
Regarding the Bahamas event, Deuters said it “felt a lot” like a takeover.
“It was the Amber Heard party as opposed to their wedding. I remember her father giving a speech and he kind of made signs around the area. [of the island], and said something along the lines of, ‘Look, honey, all this is yours now,’ ”she recalled. “My heart sank a little bit … were they more excited about all the wealth they were marrying, or was this about love?”
“When you see a friend or loved one move on into a relationship that you personally do not think is healthy for them, it’s hard because you can not exactly stop it,” Deuters continued.
“It was pretty heartbreaking over the years to see him get worse physically and emotionally. So in the end he was very sad about the breakdown of his marriage. He suffered a lot from it.”
Deuters insisted to Page Six that she has never seen Depp act aggressively towards a woman, saying: “I have been with him while he was drinking, making drugs and smoking hash, and his behavior has not become ugly at all. “I have never seen him lose his temper.”
She described the actor as a “darling friend,” she continued, “by all means their relationship was unstable, but I just know Johnny would not beat a woman.
“I can sleep at night knowing that I support my friend. I absolutely feel he has been a victim of domestic abuse and he deserves justice.”
In previous testimony, Heard vividly described her alleged abuse from Depp’s hands. The actress sobbed as she described everything from Depp’s alleged threats to kill her to “cavity searches” and various sexual assaults.
Heard is expected to take a stand again Monday for cross-examination. A spokeswoman for the actress declined to comment.
Meanwhile, Depp has not regretted the trial, according to Deuters.
“Yes, it’s like reopening old wounds. But the struggle to clear his name is ultimately for his children, as painful and as ugly as it is, ”she explained. “He is here [in the UK] at the moment we saw him… and I can already see a weight has been lifted from his shoulders after giving his testimony. ”
She added: “Now I can see why he wanted the cameras; so the public can hear him and others talk directly about their experiences. He has finally felt that his voice has been heard and that means a lot to him.”
