This is not the first time that DC’s zombie series has forced villains to become heroes in order to survive. One of the saga’s spinoffs, DCeased: The Unkillables, as villains like Deathstroke, Bane, Cheetah and others work with Commissioner Jim Gordon, Batgirl / Cassandra Cain and Red Hood / Jason Todd to protect a young group of survivors. Some of these former criminals died during the journey to Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn’s safe zone, Garden.

However, not all villains are in Dophørt became a better person after the outbreak of the Anti-Life Equation virus. During Dophørtsecond main chapter, Dead Planet, it was revealed that a group of rich villains – Penguin, Professor Ivo, Simon Stagg and others – created their own safe house, where they built an army of Amazo androids to wipe out Anti-Living and reclaim the Earth for themselves. . Even worse, they unleashed their army all over the world, just as the heroes had discovered and manufactured a cure.

The War of the Undead Gods will pick up on a cliffhanger left by Dead Planet. Although the sequel ended on a hopeful note with Black Canary kissing Green Arrow after he was healed, Dead Planet # 4 saw the undead Darkseid land on New Genesis, whose new gods are shown in early works of art to be infected when the final chapter begins. Supergirl is seen being overwhelmed by the zombie horde, where her perilous fate appears to be sealed.

The series has not weeded back to infect or directly kill fan-favorite characters in the past. The first part of Dophørt killed heroes like Batman, Flash Barry Allen and more, and ended up with an undead Superman who flew into the Sun to drain his energy (which is still in the star per. Dead Planet). Even more died in the series’ spinoffs and sequels, such as John Constantine, Red Hood and others.

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods # 2 is written by Taylor with interior art by Hairsine and Andy Lanning, cover art by Howard Porter and variant covers contributed by Francesco Mattina, Dan Mora, Sun Khamunaki and Kael Ngu. The edition is set to go on sale on September 20 from DC Comics.
