At 26-28, the Phoenix Suns are on a crash course to finish the 2024-25 NBA season as the most disappointing team in the league.
Despite making some major changes in the offseason, the Suns are falling well short of their preseason expectations as a serious playoff team.
Phoenix has starry names in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, but the trio’s offensive prowess isn’t enough to cover a shallow roster.
The Suns are missing several two-way players around their stars and as a result their defense is a huge reason why they’re in their current position.
Phoenix doesn’t have many avenues to improve the current team other than veterans in the free agent market.
So with that in mind, they recently became the betting favorites to sign Patrick Beverley via Bovada.
“The Phoenix Suns are the favorites to win the Pat Bev sweepstakes. “Phoenix Suns -120 Brooklyn Nets +325 Philadelphia 76ers +325 LA Lakers +600 Real Madrid Baloncesto +1400 KK Partizan NIS +2000 Virtus Bologna +2000 Olimpia Milano +2000 BC Dubai +2500.”

Beverley spent this past season playing overseas in Israel with Hapoel Tel Aviv, but the two sides recently agreed to terminate his contract and make him a free agent.
The timing of his release makes sense as the NBA trade deadline just passed and teams are pivoting to free agency to make upgrades on the margins.
Known for his tenacious defense and grittiness on the court, Beverley is the perfect veteran for a title team who may need some additional accountability in the locker room.
While his antics make him a hard sell, there are certainly NBA teams that could benefit from signing Beverley.
