15 migrants, driver injured after hunting with Texas deputies

Authorities say 15 migrants and another person were injured after the truck they were in overturned after a high-speed chase with Texas lawmakers on Sunday.

SAN ANTONIO – Fifteen migrants and another person were injured after the truck they were sitting in overturned after a high-speed chase with Texas lawmakers on Sunday, according to authorities.

A deputy had driven over the truck around noon. 8 in Medina County, west of San Antonio, when a person fled the vehicle before speeding, according to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase continued into nearby Bexar County, where the driver lost control and the truck overturned several times.

Fifteen migrants were found in the truck as well as a driver from Austin.

Two people were taken by helicopter to a hospital in San Antonio and the other people in the truck were transported by ambulance, according to authorities.

Officials say two of the people were in critical condition. The conditions of the others were not immediately known.

Authorities say the driver, whose name was not immediately released and had a gun in the truck, faces several charges.
